Kwardel Lewis, MPH
Research & Evaluation Project Lead
Kwardel Lewis, MPH, is a public health epidemiologist, health educator, program evaluator, and researcher. She received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Public Health at the University of Georgia, with an emphasis in health promotion and behavior.
Kwardel began her career in program evaluation and data analysis with EMSTAR Research Inc. under the direction of Dr. Broomfield-Massey. She worked with community-based organizations, nonprofits, and state and federal government agencies such as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health, the Georgia Department of Public Health, and the Gateway Center.
She continues her program evaluation efforts at UMC, mainly working with the Center for Black Women’s Wellness (CBWW) and Usher’s New Look.
Kwardel’s areas of expertise include minority maternal and child health, qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, health education, and infectious disease intervention (specifically STD/HIV and COVID-19). Her experience motivates her to encourage minority populations who believe they don’t have a voice.
Kwardel likes to spend quality time with her family, playing tennis, and working with her sister in their event planning business. She is passionate about improving health equity through education and advocacy in underserved communities—especially in Sierra Leone, where her family is originally from.
